Tweaking the Keyword Insertion Tag for Adwords

Google offers a dynamic tool when it comes to writing your text ads that allows you to insert the users search query into your ad text. You can place this keyword tag into both your Title and Description lines of ad text which allows for many different uses. Default text is also needed just in case the user’s search query is too long for the amount of characters allowed in AdWords ad text.

Here is an example of how you would enter the dynamic tag into your ad text:

Using the AdWords Callout Extension

Back in 2014 Google came out with a brand new type of ad extension to help make your ads stand out while next to your competitors ads. This new extension is much different than the current Location, Call, Review and other extensions that were already available in your account.  The new ad extension is called a ‘Callout Extension’ which are small lines of text located under your normal text ad description.

Google AdWords & Remarketing

Over the past year or so, Google AdWords has introduced a method of serving ads to those who have already been on your site. Their service called Remarketing allows you to try and get the surfer who maybe didn’t complete a goal, back to your site to try and convert them.

The way that this service works is that some special code is added which tracks the surfers who have visited your website. The next steps are inside the actual AdWords account where a campaign needs to be created for the Display Network, and in particular Remarketing.

Google Shopping Custom Labels

Google has given a new option to add custom fields to your products in the feeds which you supply your Google Merchant account with. This additional data can then be used inside your Google Adwords account for better optimization with your Google Shopping campaign.

The Google Shopping program, which used to be called Product Listing Ads has definitely went through some changes over the past couple years and these custom fields is just one example. Because of the new way to run your Google Shopping campaign,  we highly recommend adding some type of data to these custom label fields that … Read the rest

New Keyword Matching Option: Broad Match Modifier

Recently Google has introduced a new keyword matching option to go with the others. There used to be only Broad, Phrase and Exact keyword matching but now there is a 4th option. With the broad match type there is now an option called Broad Match Modifier which is used by putting a + sign in front of any words that must be a part of the surfer’s search phrase. This may sound a bit technical but we will explain it more.
